She might even Tweet from beyond the grave… Theodoros Chiotis journeys into the brave new world of computing in which poetry comes unhinged from its previous forms, analysing text as an overloaded, fragmentary, multi-dimensional performance. Ross Sutherland filters famous poems through hundreds of internet translation sites, until they are so completely mistranslated that they become new poems in their own right. In his lecture, Ross uses these poems to tell the story of the fall and rise of automatic translation, and the threat to the power of language itself.
