What are the possibilities for the mystical, the spiritual and the beyond-human, in contemporary literature? Can the language of poetry evoke the divine? In this online event, join three exhilarating writers as they discuss the role of spirituality in their creative work.
Luke Kennard’s ‘dazzling’ collection Cain recasts the bad boy of Genesis as the author’s psychiatric nurse. Rebecca Tamás’s ‘sexy, frightening’ WITCH presents poems as spells, as hexes, and harnesses the revolutionary potential of women’s voices. And poet Khaled Nurul Hakim’s ‘mystical and illuminating’ fiction debut The Book of Naseeb is written in a blend of street argot and Quranic-inspired language.
The conversation will be chaired by creative producer and ‘cultural omnivore’ Georgia Attlesey and will feature readings from each writer.
This is an online event that will be conducted via Zoom.
