It is 1906. Catherine, a married woman in her mid-30s, starts to behave erratically and uncontrollably. She consults a neurologist, who believes in the organic basis of her behaviour but can do no more than recommend a rest cure. Meanwhile Mick is awaiting execution for a vicious murder, and has attracted the attention of an ‘alienist’, an asylum doctor specialising in criminal insanity.
Come and immerse yourself in a multi-media performance exploring ideas about the brain in an era before scanning, and join in a discussion with experts on the history of medicine and psychiatry.
