What happens when someone we love dies? How do we grieve? And to what extent can ritual provide comfort or community at times of crisis? Are the ancient rites of loss and mourning still relevant in the twenty-first century, with biodegradable coffins and Western funeral practices that seek to minimise or sanitise the bodily reality of death?
The Shroud is a new performance work exploring death, mourning and ritual practices in the context of diverse cultures and mythologies. In the first of two public discussion events, join the project’s creative team to discuss and share your experiences of loss and grief.
With Siddhartha Bose, Russell Bender & Tom Chivers.
SPECIAL GUEST: Nikesh Shukla – author of Coconut Unlimited and The Time Machine.
