The International Anthony Burgess Foundation and Penned in the Margins present readings from two of the UK\u2019s most exciting young poets.<\/h2>\n

Selected by the Poetry Book Society as the one of the Next Generation Poets in 2014, Melissa Lee-Houghton\u2019s work explores mental health and what it means to be human. Her debut collection A Body Made of You<\/em> was published by Penned in the Margins in 2011. Her follow-up, Beautiful Girls<\/em>, was released in 2013. She is a regular reviewer for The Short Review and has contributed to literary magazines such as Poetry Wales, 3:AM, Tears in the Fence, Poetry Salzburg Review, The White Review, The New Writer, La Reata and The Reader.<\/p>\n

Luke Kennard is the author of numerous works of poetry and short fiction. His first collection of poems, The Solex Brothers<\/em>, was published in 2005, and won an Eric Gregory Award. His second collection, The Harbour Beyond the Movie<\/em>, made him the youngest writer to be nominated for the Forward Prize for Best Collection. His latest work, 2016\u2019s Cain<\/em>, covers everything from interfaith dialogue and genealogy to zombies. Cain<\/em>‘s central sequence of 31 anagram poems re-energises Genesis 4:9-13, demonstrating the mastery of form and trademark surreal humour that has made Kennard one of British poetry’s brightest lights.<\/p>\n
