Better late than never, we&#8217;re proud to launch another packed programme of events and books, with cover artwork from the wonderful <a href=\"http:\/\/www.leahfusco.co.uk\">Leah Fusco<\/a>. Here&#8217;s James Trevelyan with the run-down.<\/h2>\n<p>Firing sound effects, manning the Instagram account, keeping the office blackboard fresh with new poems&#8230; These are just some of the things I get up to in my role as Sales &amp; Marketing Coordinator at Penned in the Margins. Since my arrival in May 2015, I\u2019ve found myself working on all areas of the business, on projects that span theatre, publishing and live literature. In my first week I was even called into duty to accept the <strong>Most Innovative Publisher<\/strong> gong at the Saboteur Awards, due to the director\u2019s involvement in a freak go-karting accident&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>However varied my days get, I find myself returning to the poetry I first fell for as an admirer of Penned in the Margins. I am hugely excited to be involved in publishing new work from two of those writers &#8211; <strong>Melissa Lee-Houghton<\/strong> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pennedinthemargins.co.uk\/index.php\/2016\/02\/asteronymes\/\">Claire Tr\u00e9vien<\/a> &#8211; in 2016. Adding to that a foray into play-texts with <strong>Luke Wright<\/strong>\u2019s award-winning epic poem <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pennedinthemargins.co.uk\/index.php\/2016\/01\/what-i-learned-from-johnny-bevan\/\">What I Learned from Johnny Bevan<\/a> (easily the best thing I saw at the 2015 Edinburgh Festival); a remarkable debut from <strong>Charlotte Newman<\/strong>; a second book from Polari Prize-winner <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pennedinthemargins.co.uk\/index.php\/2016\/04\/spacecraft\/\">John McCullough<\/a>; and a long-awaited new collection from one of my favourite poets of all time, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pennedinthemargins.co.uk\/index.php\/2016\/04\/cain\/\">Luke Kennard<\/a> <em>[below]<\/em> \u2013 this 2016 poetry list is one I\u2019m looking forward to with huge anticipation.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/176596089?title=0&amp;byline=0&amp;portrait=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In non-fiction, we\u2019re rifling through the dark histories of the South Downs with <strong>Justin Hopper<\/strong> in <em>The Old Weird Albion<\/em>; and wandering among the gravestones of Nunhead Cemetery with <strong>Chris McCabe <\/strong>in <em>Cenotaph South<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m eagerly awaiting our longest ever London run with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pennedinthemargins.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/08\/schlock-3\/\">Hannah Silva\u2019s Schlock!<\/a> at the Rosemary Branch Theatre in November; Hannah\u2019s innovative performance is followed by provocative panel discussions on everything from feminism to d\/Deaf art. We\u2019re commissioning some incredible artists including <strong>Tom McCarthy<\/strong>, <strong>Aisha Devi <\/strong><em>[below]<\/em> and <strong>Inua Ellams<\/strong> to perform new work for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pennedinthemargins.co.uk\/index.php\/2014\/08\/the-evp-sessions\/\">The EVP Sessions<\/a> &#8211; a series of shows in Liverpool and London this Autumn, in partnership with our good friends at Mercy. And. finally, we give you a taster of the ambitious productions we\u2019re planning for 2017.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/sverigesradio.se\/sida\/images\/3676\/3635328_2048_1152.jpg?preset=article\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I hope you find something in the following pages that you want to embrace, talk about or rally against.
