{"id":14191,"date":"2017-03-15T18:02:55","date_gmt":"2017-03-15T18:02:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pennedinthemargins.co.uk\/?p=14191"},"modified":"2018-02-24T00:42:23","modified_gmt":"2018-02-24T00:42:23","slug":"casting-call-no-dogs-no-indians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pennedinthemargins.co.uk\/index.php\/2017\/03\/casting-call-no-dogs-no-indians\/","title":{"rendered":"Casting Call: No Dogs, No Indians"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>We are on the look out for four actors to star in our upcoming production of Siddhartha Bose&#8217;s play <em>No Dogs, No Indians<\/em>, written to mark the 70th anniversary of Indian Independence.<\/h2>\n<p>In\u00a0<em>No Dogs, No Indians <\/em>intertwining stories explore the effects and legacy of the British in India through characters such as Rani, an 1930s female revolutionary in occupied Bengal, and Shyamal, an aspiring intellectual born in post-independence Kolkata. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pennedinthemargins.co.uk\/index.php\/2017\/02\/no-dogs-no-indians\/\">More information on the show can be found here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We are on the look out for actors of British Asian \/ South Asian descent:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Male 1:<\/strong> Playing age late 20s-early 40s.\u00a0A bit of Hindi\/Bengali would be a bonus but not essential.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Female 1:<\/strong> Playing age early-mid 20s.\u00a0Some Bengali would be a bonus but not essential.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Male 2:<\/strong> 20s-40s.\u00a0Highly adaptable who can play multiple roles.\u00a0Good language skills in Hindi and some Bengali would be very useful.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Female 2:<\/strong>\u00a0late 20s-40s.\u00a0Highly adaptable who can play multiple roles shifting between ages.\u00a0Hindi language would be very useful.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants must be available for all dates of performances on <strong>17-18 May, 21 May, 24 May &amp; 18-20 July\u00a0<\/strong>at Brighton Festival, Southbank Centre, Norwich Arts Centre &amp; Newcastle Live Theatre. Rehearsals are in London, 24 April &#8211; 16 May.
