We could not be more thrilled to announce that Midland<\/em> by Honor Gavin has been longlisted for the Gordon Burn Prize 2015, alongside literary superstars Martin Amis and Hilary Mantel.<\/h2>\n

Midland<\/a> is Honor Gavin’s debut – and our first full-length novel – and tells the stories of three working women as they fight to find their feet amidst the accumulated rubble of the twentieth century. Set in an unnamed yet ever-present city, Midland<\/em> has been described as ‘the Great Birmingham Novel’ by Gary Perry, fiction buyer at Foyles.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Gordon Burn Prize rewards writing that ’embodies the\u00a0spirit and sensibility of Gordon Burn\u2019s own bold and innovative literary methods‘<\/em>, and it is apt that a book that stretches the form of the novel has been recognised. On the news of her longlisting, Honor Gavin described herself as ‘Super happy and proud’, adding ‘Now I am going to the pub.’<\/p>\n
