In No Dogs, No Indians intertwining stories explore the effects and legacy of the British in India through characters such as Rani, an 1930s female revolutionary in occupied Bengal, and Shyamal, an aspiring intellectual born in post-independence Kolkata. We are on the look out for actors of British Asian / South Asian descent:
Male 1: Playing age late 20s-early 40s. A bit of Hindi/Bengali would be a bonus but not essential.
Female 1: Playing age early-mid 20s. Some Bengali would be a bonus but not essential.
Male 2: 20s-40s. Highly adaptable who can play multiple roles. Good language skills in Hindi and some Bengali would be very useful.
Female 2: late 20s-40s. Highly adaptable who can play multiple roles shifting between ages. Hindi language would be very useful.
Applicants must be available for all dates of performances on 17-18 May, 21 May, 24 May & 18-20 July at Brighton Festival, Southbank Centre, Norwich Arts Centre & Newcastle Live Theatre. Rehearsals are in London, 24 April – 16 May. Fee is £2,125 for 25 days (£85 per day).
